Dear Friends,

Here in Egypt or even in most Arab countries we can easily buy any albums of Amr. We can attend his concerts and watch his videos or interviews just with one click on any channel. But it's not the same with foreign fans.

We try to give you some stories from foreign fans around the world, and they will tell us how they started listening to Amr Diab and how they keep listening to him in very far distance, and we will try to get those stories for you and post it in single episode.

الموضوع بأختصار, أن أحنا سواء هنا في مصر أو في أي بلد عربي الموضوع مش صعب بالنسبلنا أننا نسمع عمرو أونحضر حفلاته أو نتابع كليباته أو لقائته التلفزيونية, بس الموضوع مش بنفس السهولة بالنسبة للفانز من الدول الأجنبية

حنحاول أن شاء الله أننا نجيبلكم قصص الفانز دول حول العالم, وأزاي قدروا يتعرفوا علي عمرو و وصلهم أزاي وأزاي قادرين يتابعوه رغم بعد المسافات وصعوبة الموضوع

Episode# 02: I found Amr Diab on my way to Europe

I'm Wibie (F) from Indonesia. I started listening to Amr Diab in 2008 when I was on a plane. At that time I was on my way from Jakarta to Germany by Emirates, but before landed to Germany, we had to stop in Dubai to change the plane. So when I was on my way from Jakarta to Dubai, I was listening some musics from the facility on plane.
I didn't know why, I clicked the "Arabic Songs" part, and directly my hand guided to Amr Diab part. For God's sake I had no idea about him at all. I didn't understand the title of his songs, but I went to a song called Tamally Maak.. I started to listen.. And oh my God I really loved that song! And you know what, I was listening to that song until I stopped in Dubai. I just didn't care how many times I repeat that song. Hehe.
At that time I had no idea to buy his CD in Dubai or stuff like that, but I changed my mind when I was on my way back from London to Jakarta.



When I was on my way from London to Jakarta I took Emirates also, and of course I had to stop in Dubai for some moments. I wanted to buy Amr's CD that has Tamally Maak. Thank God that Dubai International Airport has a music store. I directly ask to the man who was in charge at that time to find Amr's CD. Actually there were some of Amr's CD, but at that time I had no idea which one I should buy. Then I thought that I should buy the best of Amr one.
There was a funny story but rude. When I hold Amr's CD to pay it at cashier, a guy, I bet he was Arabian told me, "Hey, you're Chinese, you listen Arabic songs". LOL. Then I answered, "I'm sorry Sir, with all my respects, I'm not a Chinese, but I'm Indonesian. And I don't care this is Arabic songs or not, I just love Amr Diab's songs". Well somehow, I look like a Chinese, but I'm not =)
Thank God that I didn't buy wrong CD, because I love ALL songs in that CD. I've been looking for Amr's another albums, but I didn't find any in Indonesia =(

But my sadness healed by some Egyptian friends that I met in Bali on April 2009. I met some Egyptian police officer who spent holiday in Bali. We're still very good up now, and they always give me the information about Amr Diab, especially some old information that you might can't get on internet. They always give me some information about Amr's old songs, such Ya Omrana, Khaleek Fakerny, Teadar Tetkalem, We Malo, etc.

I really wish that Amr comes to Indonesia and make a concert here. And believe or not, I've been downloading Amr's concert videos from YouTube, like when he had a concert in Carthage. I really love Amr's songs, from the old songs up to latest album, Wayah. I always update it via YouTube and Amr's official website. And my Egyptian friends are very confused about me, they said, "Oh my God, you really love Amr Diab's songs". Yes, I do =)

I have a plan to visit Egypt in November / December 2010. I really really hope that Amr has a show / concert by the time I get there.

I have a lot of Egyptian friends on Facebook and they are always shocked to find out that I listen to his music. FYI - I found a lot of Amr's CD's on EBAY. I had to order Wayah from there. I could not find his CD's anywhere her in the U.S.
