Episode# 07: Hayam Nur from Sweden and Mausi Rößling from Germany Hayam Nur Sweden ![]() My love for Amr Diab started in 2005. I met Ahmed, a guy from Egypt on myspace and we became really good friends. I got really fascinated by his country and at the time I had just started to learn about Islam and got very curious about middle eastern culture..I wanted to know more about it in all its aspects and one of my passions being music, I asked my friend to send me some music that would represent his country best. I remember him sending me songs of Amr Diab to listen to and telling me : " He is the greatest singer we have in Egypt, you are going to love him"....and in fact I did!! At the time I couldn't understand arabic at all, but I loved the music and the sound of his voice, his scales, his melodies...and now that I understand arabic more I got to love his songs even more, for the depth of their lyrics and the passion they express...such delicate and intense feelings that truly can move someone's heart. To top this off, my new fiancé from Cairo, whom I am soon going to marry inshAllah, had his parents change his name to Amr, in honour to Amr Diab!! Isnt this quite an amazing story? And now that I am moving to Cairo and starting my new life there I really hope to have the chance to meet Amr Diab someday and see him perform live!! This is something I really dont want to miss! ![]() By Hayam Nur ( from Italy, currently living in Sweden) PS: I changed my name to Hayam Nur after converting to Islam in 2006, that is why it is arabic, but I am 100% italian ----------------------- Mausi Rößling Germany ![]() I am uli from germany and i love the music of amr diab. when i was younger my neighbours were from egypt and they introduced me to amr diab and his very special music. and from the first sec i felt good when listening to his music. so all my life when i grow up i was surrounded by his music. then when i was older i wanted to go to college. i moved 500 kilometers away from my parents and wanted to live in a student home. first i was afarid because i did not know anybody, put the something beautiful happend. from one of the rooms in the house i heared the music of amr diab and then i felt home. i felt welcome just by listening the voice of my favourite all time singerö now i study islamic and arabic science and started to learn the arabic language and i am even more touched by his music since i started to understand what he is singing now. the sad thing is that amr diab never comes to germany. one time he was supposed to perform in a city called essen, but then he did not come and i was very sad, because i bought a ticket just to see him...but when i listen to his music i feel like i am next to him. when i was younger i would always say: I will marry amr diab and eery night he will sing for me...we did not get married, but still he sings to me every night, because i listen to his cds. i hope i will be able to see him in concert some day...hopefully when i will be in egypt next year! :-) All stories are posted with there owners approval. Hayam's story is very touchable one
maybe because my story is similar to hers. Good luck to you Hayam and I'm saying this from my heart. Don't forget to update-us about yourself and tell us when you get married to the same guy from Egypt that you've talked about. ![]() Egypt is such a great country and I recommend everyone to go and visit it. I've got a question to Hayam. Are you now muslim? I liked the idea of the thread, nice work. Thanks guys for sharing your stories. Last edited by Suna; 11-05-2009 at 10:17 PM. |

Uli, so you've heared Amr Diab from your neighbours and later on heared him again in students' house? Thats cool. See Amr diab likes you, he chases you wherever you go.
Honestly, it's such a nice thing to hear Amr Diab's song from an unexpected place and specially if that place is the place where you will be staying. Are you still there in students' house or moved somewhere else? Do have posters of him with you, in places such as bedroom or study room? Are you able to say hi and bye in Arabic? or still learning? just kidding. Thanks for sharing your story with us. It was interesting reading it. |

Wow! I loved your stories!! I am always amazed at how many people Amr's music has touched. Hayam - you are a lucky lady! I have met many Egyptian friends on Facebook. They are some of the most warm, friendly and polite people I have met in my life. I have learned so much about them and their culture, I feel like part of me belongs in Egypt. Uli - I know every time I hear Amr's music, it puts me in such a good mood. I also wish that Amr would play in my country as well ....the US. I look forward to have the chance to visit Egypt as well and see him in concert. Amr's music has inspired me to learn Arabic also & now I have taught myself to sing it as well. Amr is the best!!!!
